International SOS is recruiting for a Security Manager, Maghreb & Sahel, to join the team at International SOS in London (Chiswick). 
 

Job Description

 

The Security Manager, Maghreb & Sahel is responsible for the day-to-day supervision and delivery of the regional Security Intelligence and Assistance, including 24-7 escalation. The Security Manager will be the regional analytical lead for Morocco, Western Sahara, Algeria, Mauritania, Mali, Niger, Chad, Burkina Faso, Tunisia, Israel and the Palestinian Territories. Operating in a dynamic and fast-moving working environment the Security Manager will need to be adaptable and flexible – comfortable with ambiguity; able to work without supervision and under pressure. 


Service Delivery


-    Maintain and provide situational awareness on the Maghreb and Sahel in line with priorities, including information collection and research, and the timely escalation and reporting of changes to the risk environment; supervision and delivery of regional weekly and monthly forecasts;
-    Delivery of timely and accurate security and risk management advice to all audiences and across all distribution channels (online content, written briefs, verbal briefs);
-    Provide high quality analysis through security alerts and other assessments as well as appropriate guidance to the broader team to support assessments and case management for Maghreb & Sahel;
-    Supervision of regional security desk for delivery of core security services, including 24-7 escalation;
-    Coordinate on complex cases (and delivery as required) and triage of kidnap, extortion and life threatening cases;
-    Coordination and delivery mass evacuation services.
-    Participate in the On-Call roster to ensure effective support to escalation;

Operational Preparedness


-    Support with operational planning, including the preparation and delivery of country assessments sessions, information collection plans and related concepts of operation;
-    Plan and conduct country accreditation visits supporting commercial, Intelligence and Assistance functions;
-    Establish and maintain relationships with regional information and security assistance provider network and regional stakeholders;
-    Support maintenance of database of local information, security assistance and other providers;

Quality and Training
-    Mentoring, supervision, training and development of Security Specialists;
-    Conduct regular case and report reviews in line with the Quality Management Programme;
-    Oversee and track progress of team compliance projects (i.e. provider network compliance);

Qualifications

 


•    Undergraduate degree (or relevant professional training) in a field related to security, risk management, international politics or international relations. 
•    Master’s degree in similar fields an advantage
•    Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in security or intelligence operations in military, government (officer or senior NCO), or private sector roles essential
•    Operational security, intelligence, risk management and/or crisis management experience; 
•    Experience operating in an international context (assignments, exchanges or experience working within a multinational company);
•    Knowledge of the political and security issues in particular regions and interest in international affairs and the global security environment;
•    Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office Suite and other applications;
•    Research and analytical skills.
•    Extensive work, travel or academic experience in Maghreb & Sahel 
•    Experience with corporate quality management programmes and quality metrics an advantage
•    Accreditation by an internationally recognised security or risk management body desirable
•    Fluent English, written and spoken. Fluency in French is a major advantage. 
•    Fluent Arabic or other operationally/commercially useful languages highly desirable
•    Travel will be required from time to time to meet the requirements of the business.
