About the role

 

International SOS has a market-leading portfolio of engaging, audience-centric digital content features ranging from real-time alerts to periodicals that provide actionable insight to our customers and their employees, which serve as a key element of International SOS’s subscription service.  

Our trusted client-facing content created by a dedicated team of Medical, Security and Editorial professionals leverages a unique and extensive global network of vetted providers built up over four decades of experience. The Product Director, Information & Analysis, plays a pivotal role in ensuring we continue to offer a differentiated proposition, by showcasing this expertise including our boots-on-the-ground Assistance capability within our industry-leading Travel Risk Management and Critical Event Management digital platform.  

This portfolio of content features is delivered by an integrated suite of technologies which collectively allow for the authoring, curation and distribution of our published content. The Product Director will use a defined budget to ensure the best long-term business outcomes across the Information & Analysis portfolio, including all content feature types, translation and localisation services, as well as our suite of Digital Learning materials. 
 
This will be achieved by leading the research, design and structure of content features based on client and user needs; developing tools for managing the collection, analysis, production and distribution of health and security multimedia content; working with client channel teams on the integration, display and user experience of that content (and/or data – internal or third-party); and working with Product Marketing teams to achieve successful outcomes in terms of customer promotion and internal and external positioning of all deliverables. 

Key responsibilities

 

- Commissions client and market research and captures evolving commercial context and user needs related to the content product pillar
- Understands how those needs are currently met (or need to evolve to meet) across the customer base
- Establishes compelling, continuously-improving value proposition and vision, fully aligned with those of the subscription service
- Maintains commercial, forward-looking product road map broken down by content features each with their own strategic approach, and linked to business objectives supported by product backlogs across Content Services teams
- Develops the vision, as well as the short-, medium- and longer-term road map for the Content product pillar; aligns with overall WFR commercial product vision and organisational structure, following product methodology
- Owns end-to-end content product life cycle, from production to surfacing of content into end-user channels
- Forms dedicated, multi-disciplinary Scrum teams to ensure delivery and launch of all aspects of the value proposition, including commercial terms and conditions, working in collaboration with the digital delivery, product and solutions teams
- Oversees Level 2 incident and support escalation for all content product and feature-related topics
- Leads content product-related decision-making and provides prioritisation advice and guidance to relevant delivery and engineering teams
- Owns and manages Machine Translation and multilingual strategy for Content Services
- Ensures clear, comprehensive documentation and manages the development of relevant requirements, strategies, customer journeys, use cases and user stories
- Ensures compliance at all times with legal, privacy, security and industry-standard architectural standards
- Accountable for deriving value (customer satisfaction, net financial contribution) from the allocated budget, presenting cases to adjust that budget where a business justification can be made
- Responsible for collaborating with Sales & Marketing community on go-to-market planning and execution including marketing collateral, business objectives and targets; as well as messaging and promotion of our content features and their associated value to customers
- Provides guidance on and support to the process of positioning and pricing of content features and services

About you

- Front-end content interaction & geoviz experience is key, in order to create visually appealing Medical & Security content (both from International SOS & third-party partners), thereby driving adoption, utilisation of and engagement with our suite of industry-leading, client-facing products.   

- Industry experience of optimising colour scheme & balance layout, displaying data clearly & intuitively, while ensuring styling is consistent across our full suite of products  

- Proven experience of managing tools for digital news scraping that allow for the monitoring, extraction and processing of information from a variety of sources, ensuring compliance with all relevant legal guidelines

- Front and back-end product experience, managing a delivery team and diverse set of stakeholders.  

- Strong stakeholder management is a pre-requisite, the Product Director works closely and collaboratively across Product Management, Design, Engineering and Sales & Marketing teams, alongside our core Medical, Security, Operations and Editorial professional domains.  

- Passion for driving audience-centric content initiatives, with experience of working in a complex, fast-paced multimedia news and information digital environment 

- Strong knowledge of content management systems (eg Sitecore) and of the overall digital media and publishing sector 

- Knowledge and experience of content models, taxonomy, information architecture, accessibility and user experience within multichannel and multilingual environments 

- Knowledge and experience of APIs 

- Excellent communicator and collaborator 

- Financial and commercial acumen; including experience of handling and having fiscal responsibility for budgets 

- Decisive, with a preference for data-driven decisions
