Description:

We are passionate about developing new talent and have committed to supporting Learning and Professional Development for our Industry. In 2018 International SOS launched the Offshore Medics Training Academy to help develop the critical skills and capabilities of medics working, or hoping to work, offshore. Since then, we have supported over 40 clinical professionals to become qualified, experienced offshore Medics.

For the industry at large, sourcing medics is a challenge, especially throughout the last 12 months. Conversely, we know there are many general medics keen to get into the industry, but the price of retraining or upskilling is often prohibitively expensive. 

The programme is open to medical trained candidates including trained nurses, paramedics or ex-military medical personal. Please make sure you submit your application to the most appropriate vacancy - this vacancy is specific to candidate who have a background, training and experience as a Registered Nurse. 

Qualifications

  1. Currently reside in the UK. 
  2. Have the right to work in the UK. 
  3. Registered Nurse (Adult) with a minimum of 3 years post-graduation experience working within one or more of the following areas:
  • Accident & Emergency (A&E)
  • Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
  • High Dependency Unit (HDU)
  • Out of Hours Service
  • Advanced Nurse Practice
  • Medical or Surgical Assessment Unit

 

Additional Information

If your CV meets the requirements that we are looking for, you will be invited to attend the following: 

1. HR Interview - involves competency questions and goes over your background. 

2. Clinical Assessment - this will test your medical knowledge. 

On successful completion of the above steps you will be invited to join the programme and will be sent a joining pack that will include information on the course, accommodation details, and a Pre-Engagement Training Agreement that you will need to sign and return before the start of the course

If accepted on to the International SOS Academy Training Program, International SOS will fund all the necessary training and (upon successful completion) undertake to secure work for you with one of our clients offshore. This training includes: 

1. Offshore Medics Course - 2 weeks in duration, 1 week virtually online and the other 1 week in-person in Aberdeen
2. Clinical Placement for 1-2 weeks - some of which can be done internally in our Aberdeen Clinic
3. Offshore Survival (BOSIET) - This takes 3 days to complete in-person
4. Minimum Industry Safety Training - This takes 2 days to complete in-person
5. OGUK Medical & Shoulder Measurements - This can be done in Aberdeen


Please note that acceptance on to the International SOS Medic Academy means a commitment to attend the above training requirements within annual leave / leave time in order to ensure you are trained before we can offer you employment with us; however, employment is not guaranteed.
