A. Overall Purpose of the Job

Security Specialist – Fixed-Term (1 Year) | Location: Korea

The Security Specialist, Korea is responsible for the coordination, delivery and quality of intelligence and assistance provided in South Korea primarily to Korean-speaking clients operating globally, and secondarily to inbound clients to South Korea. In line with direction set by the Regional Security Manager (RSM), North Asia, the SM delivers security intelligence and assistance, engages and escalates to relevant stakeholders, and supports with operational planning, intelligence production and regular RSC team calls.

The Security Specialist Korea also works closely with Regional Security Manager, North Asia and Seoul Quality Manager to ensure the quality of service delivery in Korean, and professionally drive productivity and efficiency improvements.

 

B. Key responsibilities

Leadership

  • As a subject matter expert, proactively collaborate with relevant stakeholders in the Assistance Centre, Medical team, Flight Desks, & Travel Advisor teams to ensure comprehensiveness of case management and operational planning outputs in addition to overall economy of effort

Operational Service Delivery

  • Provide high-quality written and verbal security risk management advice and assistance in Korean, in line with agreed service delivery standards;
  • Deliver high-quality Korean language information & analysis deliverables, including forecasts and in-depth analytical reports, in line with market need and editorial standards;
  • Support the integration with global Security Intelligence & Assistance platform to ensure appropriate situational awareness of global issues affecting Korean speaking clients
  • Participate in On-Call roster;
  • Support clients inbound to Korea through case management and intelligence output as directed by the RSM NA;
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of internal Country Assessments and Concept of Operations (CONOPS) within the APAC region
  • During major escalations, lead outreach to Korean speaking clients aligned with the approved Party Line;
  • As required, travel to support RSCs Country Visit requirements to assess current situation, local provider capabilities and expand existing network of contacts to further support clients;
  • As required be prepared to deploy at short notice as part of an Incident Management Team.

Consulting Delivery & Sales, Marketing Support

  • Contribute to International SOS’ account management and planning activities with a focus on penetrating, expanding and protecting accounts.
  • Support the Sales and Marketing teams in the articulation of International SOS’ services and in providing functional expertise in South Korea - client facing forums such as webinars.
  • Coordinate security contribution to Assistance Centre tours, including preparation, rehearsal and delivery;
  • Support and assist with onboarding of new Korean-speaking clients, as required. Assist in the localization of products and solutions
  • As required, deliver safety and security trainings and workshops – especially those focused on South Korea – as well as engage in client specific security assistance consultancy tasks as required.

C. Job Profile

Required Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong knowledge of the security risk management best practices and principals across a diversity of risk environments.
  • Security, risk management and/or crisis management expertise;
  • Knowledge of all aspects of an intelligence cycle;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and analytical skills;
  • Strong interest in the global political and security landscape;
  • Strong influencing skills;
  • High levels of attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a global, cross-cultural context

Desirable Work Experience

  • Typically 3-5 year relevant experience in security or intelligence operations in military, police, government, NGO, journalism or private sector roles
  • Client management and/or Security planning experience
  • Experience in operating in International Context (postings, exchanges or experience in working within a foreign multinational company).
  • Experience in writing and presentation for a business audience and business decision-makers
  • Delivery of consulting tasks an advantage
  • Development and delivery of internal and external training sessions an advantage

 Qualifications

  • Educated to a degree level or equivalent in politics, international relations or related subject or equivalent work experience.

 Required Languages

  • Native level Korean speaker
  • Excellent written and spoken English
