Near Patient Nurse  

Location: Seoul/Hybrid

Contract type: Full time and 18 month temporary contract (18개월 산휴대체)

Key Responsibilities

 

As a Near Patient Nurse, you become the clinical bridge between Korean healthcare providers and U.S. military medical teams. You provide in-person patient support, coordinate medical updates, and ensure safe, high-quality care throughout the patient’s hospital stay.  

 

Core responsibilities include: 

  • Medical Case Management 

    • Oversee and coordinate inpatient care for patients 

  • Ensure clinical quality oversight and support a positive inpatient experience 

  • Communication and Coordination 

    • Communicate directly with local treating medical teams to obtain detailed medical updates 

  • Provide English language status reports to military clinic staff 

    • Facilitate smooth transitions of care upon hospital discharge back to the responsible military treatment facility 

  • Patient Advocacy and Support 

    • Ensure patients understand their treatment plans 

    • Act as an intermediary between treating medical teams and patients, including language support where needed 

    • Advocate for patients when necessary while maintaining strong relationships with local network healthcare providers 

  • Direct Interaction 

    • Deliver face-to-face support to beneficiaries during hospitalization 

    • Build trust and foster positive relationships with both patients and healthcare providers 

 

You will be supported by experienced leaders, including the Near Patient Nurse Lead and Near Patient Physician Lead, while still enjoying a high degree of independence and control over your daily work.

Working Conditions

 

1) Contract Terms: 18 month contract for maternity coverage (18개월 산휴대체)​

 

2) Work Arrangement: Rotational Shift Schedule - This position operates on a rotational shift basis in accordance with operational requirements.

Working Hours
Weekday shifts:
 – Early Shift: 07:00 – 16:00
 – Day Shift: 09:00 – 18:00
 – Late Shift: 11:00 – 20:00

Weekend and Public Holiday shifts:
 – Early Shift: 07:00 – 16:00
 – Late Shift: 11:00 – 20:00

 

Work on weekends and public holidays may be required depending on the roster (approximately three to five times per month).

 

3) Work Location

  • This role is primarily remote(work from home); however, frequent on-site hospital visits may be required to fulfill operational responsibilities.
  • Travel will mainly be within Seoul and the surrounding Gyeonggi regions (including Bundang and Yongin)
  • Candidates residing within reasonable proximity to major hospital locations (approximately within a one-hour commute) will be preferred.

About You

 

  • Registered General Nurse or equivalent with minimum 3 years of experience with registration to practice in country of work
  • Advanced proficiency in Korean and English including writes medical English clearly, succinctly, and correctly
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Having residence & available to work in Seoul, South Gyeonggi area
  • Experience of working in accordance with a Code of Professional Conduct (knowledge of confidentiality etc.)
  • Broad professional experience of dealing with the public/patients/other health professionals
  • Experience of multidisciplinary team working in the approach to care management
  • Understands the medical culture and organization in Korea
  • Knowledge and understanding of trends in health care quality assurance
  • Assess and develop risk management protocols
