The Senior Cloud Engineer is responsible for designing, deploying, and managing secure and scalable cloud infrastructure solutions. This role serves as a senior technical resource within the IT Infrastructure team, driving cloud engineering standards, supporting compliance requirements, and enabling the organization's digital transformation initiatives through automation and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

 

Design & Architect Cloud Solutions – Designs, implements, and manages secure, scalable, and resilient cloud environment on Microsoft Azure, ensuring alignment with organizational standards and long-term infrastructure strategy

 

Deploy & Manage Cloud Infrastructure – Provisions, configures, and maintains cloud resources including compute, storage, networking, and platform services across production and non-production environments.

 

Data Integration & Automation – Builds, supports and maintains MuleSoft runtime, RabbitMQ broker instances, and Linux servers

 

Application & Automation Initiatives – Collaborates with Application team to build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, enabling faster and more reliable software and infrastructure delivery.

 

Maintain Cloud Security Posture – Enforces security controls, manages identity and access policies, and ensures cloud environments meet compliance requirements including CMMC and PCI-DSS standards

 

Optimize Cloud Costs & Resources – Continuously reviews cloud consumption, identifies waste, and implements cost-saving strategies including rightsizing, reserved instances, and architectural optimizations

 

Collaborate with Stakeholders & Cross-Functional Teams – Partners with application and process owners, security teams, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into effective cloud solutions

 

Team Capability & Skills Redundancy – Evaluates and monitors the distribution of cloud expertise across the team, ensuring critical skills are shared among multiple engineers through structured cross-training, documentation, and mentorship to safeguard operational continuity

Required Skills and Knowledge (Brief description of technical knowledge or skills needed to perform the job)


RabbitMQ – Design, deploy, and maintain RabbitMQ broker instances, including exchanges, queues, bindings, and virtual hosts.


Cloud Architecture & Design – Proven experience designing and implementing secure, scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant cloud solutions in a GCC High environment, aligned with enterprise standards and business requirements


Microsoft Azure Expertise — Hands-on experience with core Azure services including Virtual Machines, Networking, and Active Directory to deliver reliable, enterprise-grade cloud environments


Cloud Security & Compliance – Demonstrated ability to apply security best practices including IAM, network segmentation, encryption, and supports compliance frameworks such as CMMC or PCI-DSS


Networking & Connectivity – Applied knowledge of cloud networking concepts including VNets, subnets, ExpressRoute, VPN gateways, DNS, and hybrid connectivity architectures.


Monitoring & Observability – Experienced configuring and managing monitoring solutions using Azure Monitor, Solarwinds, and alerting frameworks to ensure system health and performance visibility.


Cost Management & Optimization – Deep understanding of cloud licensing, billing, and tagging policies, and applying rightsizing and reserved instance strategies to optimize cloud expenditure


Incident Response & Troubleshooting – Experience leading root cause analysis and resolution of complex cloud infrastructure incidents, minimizing downtime and applying permanent corrective actions.


Integration, Scripting & Automation – Proficient in MuleSoft, Linux, PowerShell, Python, or Bash to integrate and automate operational tasks, reduce manual effort, and improve operational efficiency


Verbal & Written Communication – Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex technical concepts to both technical peers and non-technical stakeholders across all levels and areas of the organization

Required Work Experience (Brief description of the job-related experience needed to perform the job)

 

10+ Years – Linux, Windows Server, and cloud (Azure preferred)

 

5+ Years – Scripting (Bash, Python, PowerShell, etc.)

 

2+ Years – managing API processes (MuleSoft preferred)

 

Bonus Points – Experience working as a federal contractor, in the health insurance industry, and/or within Azure Government (GCC High) compliance boundary


Required Qualifications (Brief description of the educational background needed to perform the job)

 

Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or equivalent 4 years additional experience in a technical role.

 

Microsoft Azure Certified Administrator

 

Ability to obtain Tier 3 / Level II IT Security Clearance (previously referred to as ADP II Clearance) after being offered a position and maintain after starting
