Junior Accountant - Port Moresby

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Accountant to join our finance team at our Port Moresby Munidubu Street location. The Junior Accountant will contribute to maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the overall financial health of the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
• Maintain and update accounting records, ensuring transactions are recorded in a timely and accurate manner.
• Support month-end and year-end closing processes by reconciling accounts and preparing necessary documentation.
• Process accounts payable and receivable, verifying invoices, and ensuring timely payments and collections.
• Collaborate with other departments to collect financial information for budgeting and forecasting purposes.
• Assist with audits by providing required documentation and supporting schedules to internal and external auditors.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to accounting processes and the implementation of financial controls.

Qualifications and Skills

• A degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
• Basic understanding of accounting principles, practices, and relevant legislation.
• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
• Effective communication skills to liaise with colleagues, management, and external parties.
• A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards in handling sensitive financial data.
