About the role
The Site Medical Officer / Med Site Doctor shall always carry out his / her duties within the tenets of the Hippocratic Oath, consistent with ethical and best medical practice. He / She shall be responsible for the delivery of quality non-emergency and emergency medical / trauma response care to all personnel on site. The Site Medical Officer / Med Site Doctor will, in addition, support business development and maximize new and existing opportunities with clients by effectively maintaining the highest level of client service standards and providing efficient and consistent delivery of non-medical support services to clients. He / She will represent the Clinical and Administrative policies and procedures of International SOS by undertaking a range of tasks and responsibilities using efficient and sound judgment and conducting all aspects of work tasks in a consistent, objective, and professional manner.
Key responsibilities
The Site Medical Officer / Med Site Doctor will be responsible to management for:
Patient Care
Ø Demonstrate and promote a patient-centered style of clinical practice and demonstrate a problem-solving approach to care plan.
Ø Be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care from admission to discharge; including provision of full medical care and support to patients in the observation rooms, safety/risk assessment, providing for all functional needs, accurate ongoing assessment, reporting, safe administration of all medications and care.
Ø Accurately document and report to other members of the medical team and multi-disciplinary team, information regarding the care given to patients, communicating changes as they occur.
Ø Ensure the safe custody and administration of drugs according to International SOS procedure.
Ø Respond to emergency situations with composure, maintaining patient safety and seeking immediate support, and supporting the patient, family and other staff as required
Ø Always maintain patient dignity and confidentiality, communicate complex and sensitive information effectively to patients, and other staff, and provide support during distressing or emotional events.
Professional Conduct and Practice
Ø Ensure to conduct self in a smart, professional manner that enhances patient and client perception of International SOS, and the professionalism of its staff is portrayed.
Ø Able to independently take on increased responsibility, recognizing own limitations and seeking help appropriately.
Ø Develop and maintain clinical skills and knowledge necessary to provide patient-centered, evidence-based clinical care.
Ø Be competent in the use of all relevant approved information technology (IT) systems including the use of electronic medical records, (EMR), and ensure that data is entered in an accurate and timely manner, in accordance with International SOS procedure.
Ø Maintain the professional use of email and other modes of communication in order to keep abreast of information disseminated across the organization.
Ø Demonstrate an awareness and understanding of Accountability, Responsibility and Duty of Care.
