Your Mission

The Physician Assistant is responsible for delivering comprehensive occupational health services and ensuring the highest standards of medical care within the workplace. This role encompasses developing and implementing medical protocols, policies, and quality assurance measures, while providing direct clinical care including assessments, diagnosis, treatment, and emergency stabilization for employees. The Physician Assistant manages routine and specialized evaluations such as physicals, fitness-for-duty exams, and diagnostic testing, prescribes medications within regulatory guidelines, and coordinates rehabilitation and return-to-work programs. Additionally, the position oversees medical record accuracy, compliance with health standards, and the secure management of medications and supplies, ensuring that all healthcare services align with contractual obligations and industry best practices.
 

We are presently staffing for PRN Physician Assistants to provide casual coverage at one of our industrial client sites in the Port Arthur, TX area. Shift coverage is for Saturdays (7:00AM-3:30PM) and occasional weekdays (7:00AM-5:30PM). Candidates must be local to the area and able to commute. 

How You'll Contribute

  • Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures, medical plans, emergency protocols, and quality assurance programs.
  • Manage audits and inspections to maintain compliance and high standards of care.
  • Provide medical assessments and health services for employees who become ill or injured at work.
  • Stabilize, evaluate, and treat emergency patients.
  • Conduct physicals, return-to-work, and fitness-for-duty evaluations.
  • Coordinate care, physician referrals, and transitional duty programs.
  • Review immunization and surveillance records for employees, physicians, volunteers, and affiliates.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests including labs, EKGs, pulmonary function tests, radiological studies, and audiograms.
  • Prescribe medications within regulatory guidelines and employer policies.
  • Manage occupational rehabilitation, therapy, and return-to-work programs in coordination with ES&H Manager.
  • Ensure accurate electronic medical records and conduct regular audits.
  • Provide patient education, counseling, and discharge instructions.
  • Monitor hospitalized project personnel and ensure continuity of care.
  • Maintain a secure and compliant clinic environment aligned with industry best practices and client procedures.
  • Oversee pharmacy management, including disposal of expired drugs and inventory control of medications and supplies.

 Required Competencies 


•    Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant (PA) Program

 

Required Work Experience


•    3 years of emergency/urgent care experience
•    Occupational medicine experience
•    Previous experience working with Workers Compensation, DOT, and OSHA Regulated Exams desirable.

 

Required Qualifications

 

  • Current Texas Physician Assistant license in good standing
  • ACLS
  • CPR/AED
  • ATLS
  • BLS
  • Mental Health/First Aid Instructor certification

 

Required Languages

 

  • Excellent written and oral English
