Overall Purpose of the Job:

To be responsible for delivering professional, effective medical assistance services for patients and clients internationally to highest standards of excellence in conjuction with Medical and Operational Teams.

MEDICAL ASSISTANCE SERVICES

  • Receive and assess medical-related calls from patients and clients globally, including offshore and maritime environments.
  • Gather relevant medical, logistical, and collateral information to guide case management and ensure due diligence.
  • Provide remote medical assessments and consultations via phone or telemedicine to patients and medical teams worldwide.
  • Evaluate medical risks, advise on treatment plans, and monitor patient progress.
  • Coordinate medical assistance, including referrals, transportation, and ongoing case monitoring.
  • Apply occupational health and safety principles in case handling, including injury classification and reporting.
  • Liaise with Maritime Rescue Coordination Centres (MRCC) when needed for maritime cases.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and IADC reporting standards.
  • Support clients’ occupational health documentation by collecting relevant case data.
  • Maximize use of first aid and non-prescription treatments when appropriate.
  • Visit and assist patients in hospitals when necessary.
  • Ensure smooth handovers to incoming doctors for case continuity.
  • Escalate cases per International SOS protocols to senior medical leadership.

MEDICAL LIASON AND REPORTING

· Produce professional medical month end and case closure reports that effectively communicate information to billing, clients and other Assistance Centers.

· Professionally communicate verbally and/or in writing to relevant stakeholders regarding the progress of the patient’s condition. Discuss appropriate medical management and recommendations.

· Verbally update stakeholders to ensure good communication with all parties and to promote clear understanding with patients, families, clients etc.

· Communicate in a professional, courteous manner and tone as representatives of Intl.SOS.

· Maintain high standards for detailed and accurate documentation including the consistent and contemporaneous updating of case files.

MEDICAL TRANSPORTATION

· Maintain Intl. SOS Medical Transportation Standards (MTS) and provide direction to operational teams to facilitate the logistical arrangements of medical transportations.

· Risk assesses medical and logistical aspects of evacuations/repatriations in discussion with Medical Director.

· Liaise with medical departments and/or Medical teams of airlines for passenger medical clearance.

· Assist in the maintenance and upgrade of standards of the Intl.SOS equipment.

· Act as a Medical point pf contact when required and when skillset matches.

NETWORK SERVICES AND REFERRALS

· Responsible for medical referrals so that patients are referred to appropriate levels of care.

· Understand the medical criteria and procedures for Teleconsultation.

· Provide a verbal and/or written referral letter to facilitate understanding of the medical condition.

· Partake in the further development of Intl. SOS medical and logistic capabilities, including medical provider visits/assessments and reports

Required Qualifications:

· Full current registration to practice medicine/nursing in the Philippines.

· 5 years plus post-graduation clinical medical experience

· Current BLS/ACLS certifications

· Emergency or ICU Medical background preferred.
