About the role

The On-Shore Paramedic provides primary and emergency healthcare services to a local and expatriate workforce and oversees all aspects of clinical medical management within the clinic, including medical evacuation support. In addition is responsible to position International SOS as the principal healthcare provider in the international community

Key responsibilities

Patient Care

  • Conduct consultations and provide high-quality care.
  • Ensure continuity of care, follow-ups, and referrals.
  • Implement preventative care strategies and screenings.
  • Deliver health services per International SOS standards.
  • Manage patient triage and flow.
  • Provide 24-hour medical response.
  • Coordinate patient evacuations.

Quality Assurance and Administration

  • Optimize quality assurance with the Chief Medical Officer.
  • Maintain high standards for medical files and documentation.
  • Manage medical equipment and supplies.
  • Ensure smooth clinic operations with national medical staff.

Promotion of International SOS Services

  • Represent International SOS and the client professionally.
  • Maintain a Continuous Quality Improvement culture.
  • Promote International SOS’s Medical Services.
  • Participate in health and safety information campaigns.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Act as a medical escort for evacuations.
  • Educate employees in first aid and CPR.
  • Maintain disaster and emergency response plans.
  • Travel to provide medical assistance.
  • Ensure clinical education programs for staff.
  • Promote International SOS policies and values.
  • Develop OH&S policies and practices.

Required Work Experience

Required Work Experience

Paramedic with 5 years plus post graduation experience gained within the paramedic arena – Advanced Care level and above

ACLS or similar protocols

Working knowledge of the principles of Paramedic Medicine

Experience with both Primary Care and Emergency Medicine

Varied international medical and/or healthcare system experience

Experience in remote area medicine 

Appropriate Paramedic registration in country of origin
