We are seeking a Near Patient Physician Lead to provide clear medical leadership for our TRICARE Near Patient Partnership in Germany. The Partnership supports U.S. Military beneficiaries as they navigate the local healthcare systems helping them overcome operational barriers and ensuring high-quality, coordinated care.
The Near Patient Physician Lead will serve as the primary liaison between local International SOS staff, U.S. Military medical personnel (command surgeons and medical planners), and host-nation healthcare providers. This role ensures effective communication, quality oversight, and successful delivery of the Near Patient Program within Germany.
Some travel across Germany will be required to support client and program needs.
Key responsibilities

Provide medical leadership for the Near Patient Program in Germany, ensuring effective, compassionate, and compliant service delivery.

Serve as the primary liaison between local Near Patient staff, military medical providers, and host-nation healthcare facilities.

Promote clear communication and positive collaboration between all stakeholders to ensure a seamless care experience for TRICARE beneficiaries.

Train and mentor other Near Patient Physicians and team members on International SOS operations, the U.S. Military healthcare system, and the TRICARE Overseas Program (TOP).

Promote and facilitate education of local healthcare providers regarding International SOS, the U.S. Military health system, and beneficiary care expectations.

Support ongoing education of U.S. expeditionary medical teams about local healthcare capabilities and the Near Patient Program’s goals.

Maintain strong professional relationships with both local medical leaders and U.S. Military medical command staff.

Ensure accurate documentation and follow-up of compliments, complaints, grievances, and potential quality incidents (PQIs) within the customer feedback system.

Provide regular program reports to the Regional Medical Director and other key stakeholders.

Participate in networking and professional events to strengthen International SOS’s relationship with U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), Defense Health Agency (DHA), and related partners.

Ensure that all Near Patient operations align with contractual and organizational requirements.
About you

Medical Doctor (MD) with a minimum of 5 years’ post-graduation experience.

Fully registered and licensed to practice medicine in country of origin.

Postgraduate qualification in an assistance-focused specialty (e.g., Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Aviation Medicine, Anesthetics, ICU, Tropical Medicine).

Fluent in English and German.

Broad clinical and healthcare experience, ideally gained internationally or within developing healthcare environments.

Experience with military healthcare systems or coordination with government medical programs preferred.

Prior leadership experience, with proven ability to mentor and manage multidisciplinary teams.

Confident in decision-making within acute clinical contexts.

Comfortable balancing medical, operational, and commercial considerations.

Computer literate, with excellent communication and reporting skills.

Experience managing or coordinating international patient transfers/evacuations is an advantage.
