How You'll Contribute
As a Response Centre Nurse Practitioner, you’ll provide guidance, oversight, and critical decision-making to ensure safe, effective, and compliant medical operations:
Medical Supervision Responsibilities
- Support remote clinicians—including paramedics, nurses, and first aiders—by providing expert guidance in line with medical escalation procedures.
- Assess complex cases and deliver clear, informed direction to ensure medical due diligence and optimal patient management.
- Assist with occupational medicine case management, applying industry best practices to promote health and safety.
- Coordinate referrals and consultations with specialists and health system partners for comprehensive patient care.
- Provide telehealth assessments, monitor treatment plans, and collaborate with Medical Directors and online medical control physicians for top-tier oversight.
- Organize and supervise medical supervision for clients, including obtaining reports, arranging referrals, monitoring conditions, and recommending safe medical transportation.
- Ensure seamless handovers at shift changes to maintain continuity of care.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of International SOS medical and logistical capabilities.
Medical Liaison & Reporting
- Gather and communicate critical medical information, producing clear, professional reports for clients and stakeholders.
- Provide timely updates on patient progress and discuss appropriate management and disposition recommendations.
- Ensure accuracy and confidentiality in all documentation, including case file updates and medical record management.
- Act as Medical Authenticator, validating required vaccinations and tests.
- Escalate cases appropriately to the Medical Director and maintain compliance with International SOS protocols.
Training & Development
- Lead virtual CME sessions, orientations, and audits, sharing knowledge across MedSites in Canada.
- Organize and deliver training for healthcare professionals, introducing new processes and systems.
- Mentor and onboard field clinicians, making a positive impact on those early in their careers.
Additional Responsibilities
- Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams, including RNs, paramedics, PAs, and physicians.
- Support controlled medication management in conjunction with supply chain teams.
- Participate in meetings, training, and departmental initiatives, contributing to team development.
- Maintain your own professional education, with International SOS supporting ongoing learning.
- Play a leading role in case management and operational improvements, working closely with leadership teams.

Required Skills and Knowledge
- Strong clinical skills and ability to lead and coach others
- Experience with electronic health records systems
- Occupational Medicine case management and recordability knowledge
- Knowledge of medical policies, regulations, and procedures
- Skilled in developing and maintaining records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence.
- Skill in developing and maintaining medical quality assurance and quality control standards.
- Ability to react calmly, objectively, and effectively in emergency situations.
- Ability to analyse and interpret data if an effort is to evaluate clinical performance.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft office applications, typing, computer and communication skills
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program, with a minimum of a master's degree.
- Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar.
- Ability to obtain licensure in British Columbia, Saskatchewan or Ontario.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support Provider Certification within past 5 years.
Work Experience
- Minimum of 2 years independent practice experience in primary care/urgent care/acute care or occupational medicine.
- Preferred family all ages licensure, emergency nurse practitioner certification (ENP) or equivalent.
Required Languages
- Fluency in English required
- Bilingual capability in French or other languages advantageous
