Key Responsibilities for the role

International SOS is looking for experienced registered nurses to join our medical team in Johannesburg. This is a fantastic opportunity for nurses to move from the demands of a clinical environment to an office-based role whilst still applying their nursing expertise.

Experienced registered nurses have the opportunity to utilise their skillset to provide compassionate care and assistance across an international platform within a dynamic office environment

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Delivering front line telephonic triage of patients 
  • Interpreting medical situations by conducting a tailored risk analysis of condition vs geographical location
  • Providing telephonic advice to patients, relatives, employers, employees, and other key client stakeholders
  • Monitoring and managing open cases to closure to ensure appropriate medical outcome and financial compliance according to current standards.
  • Liaising with international medical professionals to obtain medical assessments for patients who are hospitalised or being treated overseas
  • Providing pre-travel and evacuation medical assistance in response to customer inquiries, including but is not limited to: coordination of medical evacuation services, and/or provision of health and travel information to clients.

Qualification and Experience Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Nursing diploma / degree – Registered Nurse (RN) essential
  • Current registration with South African Nursing Council (SANC)
  • Current and Valid ACLS, PALS, ITLS

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years recent working experience in ICU or ER 
  • Experience relating to Medical Assistance, Cruise ship, Aviation, Maritime, Travel Medicine, Telephonic Advice/ Telemed is highly advantageous
  • Due to the essential nature of the position, this person must be able to work in a shift environment
