Overall Purpose of the Role

International SOS is seeking a Business Development Manager – Africa, based in Johannesburg, South Africa, to drive new business growth across the region. Reporting to the Commercial Lead – H3S, this role focuses on achieving and exceeding gross profit targets by identifying, developing, and closing new business opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate new business across the Africa region through strategic market mapping, lead generation, and direct face‑to‑face sales.
  • Build strong relationships with prospective clients and senior decision‑makers.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies, pipelines, and plans aligned with business targets.
  • Conduct continuous market and industry research to identify opportunities and trends.
  • Represent the company at conferences, trade fairs, and networking events.
  • Collaborate closely with regional sales, marketing, operations, and medical teams.Maintain accurate and real‑time records in Salesforce, including activities, opportunities, and client information.
  • Drive cross‑border sales and support regional BD colleagues when needed.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of direct B2B consultative selling experience within complex service industries, ideally with multinational clients.
  • Proven track record in new business acquisition and delivering consistent revenue growth.
  • Strong proposal writing, negotiation, and influencing skills.
  • Experience with cross-border sales and emerging markets is a strong advantage.
  • Excellent communication skills in English; additional languages beneficial.
  • High-level networking ability and strong organizational, planning, and time‑management skills.

Qualifications

  • A relevant Business degree or postgraduate qualification.
