About the role
The Senior Contracts Manager lead the contracts function for the Americas Medical Services in the US and Canada. Manages, conducts, and administers commercial contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders. Oversees other compliance functions such as contract deliverable reporting, proposal efforts, and responding to requests for information. This role, in collaboration with others, will provide contractual advice and counsel to the Medical Services Leadership Team. Strong communication and leadership as well as client engagement and acquisition shaping skills are critical to success in this role.
This is a full-time Monday to Friday 8 am until 4 pm role based out of our Houston office. Thursdays/Fridays are remote/work from home days.
Key responsibilities
• Review and approve standard and non-standard commercia contracts including terms and conditions, scope of work, liabilities/risk allocation provisions in compliance with internal guidelines and requirements.
• Draft, maintain and negotiate contracts including addenda, amendments, statements of work, nondisclosure agreements, data processing agreements, and other commercial agreements as may arise.
• Act as a focal point with Sales, Operations, Finance, and other departments for resolution of problems regarding contract requirements
• Carries out established policies and compliance with contract requirements
• Leads all proposal management compliance efforts in coordination with business development professionals and technical writers
• Develop contractual documents for accuracy, performance risk, and conformance with contract terms, conditions, and other provisions in accordance with the Americas Medical Services General Affairs Policies and Procedures (GAPP) and business team objectives prior to review / signature / acceptance
• Be the focal escalation point for all US and Canada Medical Services contractual communications and commitments
• Manage contract change process and works with Program management, IT, Finance, and other disciplines to mitigate performance risk
• Guide the approval process for nonstandard risks between sales, operations, IT, Finance, Legal and management.
• Draft and negotiate contractual instruments
• Advise and support the Americas Services operational teams on program issues / developments relative to assigned contracts
• Monitor program performance for scope changes and recommends appropriate corrective actions
• Support and provide assistance to internal or external auditors in compliance reviews
• Supervise/manage other Contract and Compliance Professionals of lower grades and give performance reviews
About you
Required Skills and Knowledge
• Strong knowledge of contracts law/regulations, legal concepts
• Strong knowledge of policies/procedures as related to contract administration
• High emotional intelligence with demonstrated ability to set a course and bring his/her peers forward with them
• Excellent analytical, written, communication and presentation skills
• Ability to identify and assist in management and control of contract changes
• Strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to effectively work across teams and functions
Required Work Experience
• Minimum of 7 years of direct contract management experience
Required Qualifications
• BS from accredited university or college or equivalent education
• Certifications in Contract Management are preferred but not required.
Required Languages
• Foreign language preferred but not required
Travel / Rotation Requirements
• Must be willing to travel approximately 15% of the time.
