The Opportunity

As a Health and Wellness Advisor you will be responsible for the development, implementation, maintenance and evaluation of employee health programs and disability management initiatives at the site.

  • Job location: Fort McMurray, Alberta. Company sponsored fly-in/fly-out and camp facilities with flights from Calgary or Edmonton
  • Shift schedule: 4 days on, 3 days off, 10 hr shifts

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide consultation, support, counseling and clinical expertise to employees on health issues. Make referrals to other agencies as necessary.
  • Develop, implement and maintain confidential employee health records, recall and surveillance systems and computerized data collection.
  • Case management for the rehabilitation of ill/injured employees by monitoring the treatment/rehabilitation plan and collaborating with insurers and care providers to determine a disability management plan. Identify complex disability management cases and collaborate with the Health & Wellness Manager and Physician.
  • Coordinate the appropriate participants in the development of individual Return to Work (RTW) plan and ensure the process and outcome are evaluated.
  • Identify systemic barriers to RTW and assist departments to identify suitable transition work for ill/injured employees.
  • Act as a liaison with WCB to ensure all recording and reporting of injuries are expediently processed through WCB. Maintain a productive relationship with WCB.

The Talent We're Looking For

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Certification in Occupational Health Nursing, working towards achieving or willing to register
  • Registered Nurse and practicing member of the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta is required
  • 3+ years’ experience in the occupational health nursing field
  • Experience with and knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Health Information Act, WCB Act and Regulations and Privacy Act

Preference for:

  • Experience in an industrial setting 
  • A high level of knowledge and the ability to interpret relevant medical and operational guidelines, protocols,  policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • Collaborate with others in order to achieve the best results and deliver the most value
  • Hold others accountable, and expect others to do the same
