Your Mission
As a Firefighter, you will be an essential member of a skilled fire and rescue team, performing both emergency and non-emergency duties to protect lives, property, and the environment. Working under the direction of Fire Officers, you’ll respond to incidents, execute tactical assignments safely, and assist in hazard identification and mitigation. Beyond emergency response, you’ll maintain equipment and facilities, participate in ongoing training, mentor new team members, and ensure compliance with company policies and site-specific procedures. This role demands professionalism, teamwork, and a commitment to safety while representing International SOS in a positive and respectful manner.
How You’ll Contribute
As a Firefighter, you’ll play a critical role in protecting lives and property while working in a dynamic, team-oriented environment:
- Respond to emergency and non-emergency situations under the direction of Fire Officers, ensuring safety and efficiency in all operations.
- Complete daily tasks and assignments as part of a dedicated fire and rescue team, maintaining professionalism and readiness at all times.
- Foster a positive workplace culture by demonstrating respect and teamwork while complying with company policies on conduct, uniform, and appearance.
- Stay prepared and informed by attending daily start-of-shift meetings, participating in fire and rescue training, and keeping up to date with site-specific guidelines and rescue plans.
- Support team growth by mentoring new hires during their onboarding process and helping them complete induction requirements.
- Ensure operational excellence through inspections, maintenance, and cleanliness of fire and rescue apparatus, equipment, and facilities.
- Represent International SOS professionally when interacting with clients and contractors, reinforcing trust and reliability.
- Execute tactical assignments safely and effectively, identify hazards, and assist in incident investigations and post-incident debriefs.
- Commit to continuous learning by completing required training courses and continuing education modules to stay at the forefront of fire and rescue best practices.
The Talent We’re Looking For
Must-haves (minimum requirements):
· Standard First Aid and CPR with AED (current)
· Drivers License Class 5 (class 4 or higher preferred)
· NFPA 1001 Level 2
· NFPA 1072 or 472 Hazardous Materials Response - Operations Level (minimum)
· NFPA 1002 Driver Operator
· NFPA 1006 High Angle Rescue – Operations Level (minimum) or;
· NFPA 1006 Confined Space Rescue – Operations Level (minimum)
· ICS 100, 200
· CSTS
· H2S Awareness
· Fall Protection
· Confined Space Entry
· Site-Specific Requirements as Indicated at Hire Date (i.e. orientation, physical, WHMIS, TDG, etc.)
· NFPA 1002 Aerial Operator (preferred but not essential)
· NFPA 1006 Vehicle and Machinery Technician (when required)
· NFPA 1051 Wildland Firefighting (when required)
· Surface Water Rescue (when required)
· Ice Rescue (when required)
Required Work Experience
· 2 + years of relevant industry experience is an asset
