Overall Purpose of Job

Performs emergency and non-emergency duties under the direction of Fire Officers of an assigned fire and rescue team.

We are presently staffing for a FT ACP. Candidates must be able to commute to Redwater, AB and work day/night shifts for a 4 days or 5 days rotation.

Key Responsibilities

Occupational Health & Safety Responsibilities:

    • Make certain he or she fully understands their assigned tasks, have received proper instruction and training, and have the necessary tools and equipment to perform their duties safely and effectively.
    • Perform their duties in accordance with health and safety standards and procedures, to ensure their own safety and that of their co-workers.
    • Demonstrate and promote safe work behaviours in accordance with client and company safety standards and practices.
    • Actively participate in health & safety inspections and audits.
    • Participate in site-specific safety programs.
    • Encourage positive attitudes towards health and safety initiatives, programs and policies.
    • Make certain that hazards, incidents, injuries, and illnesses are reported to their immediate supervisor.

Emergency Operations Responsibilities:

    • Maintain standards of practice consistent with the governing regulatory body.
    • Comply with International SOS procedures and processes
    • Provide ALS medical response and Fire support to ERT team
    • Provide proper escalation for medical and chain of command for Fire/Rescue response.
    • Have a good working knowledge of medical records storage and retrieval
    • Participate in unified command operations
    • Respond to fire, medical, technical rescue incidents as required by Captain
    • Ensure that patients are managed in a professional and customer friendly manner
    • Participate in medical retrieval services as required
    • Participate in annual skill assessment testing in basic life support and other identified skills
    • Operate clinically within boundaries of the professional licenses of incumbent
    • Ensure incoming calls are answered as per SOPP
    • Maintain/daily/nightly duties as assigned
    • Undertake triage of patients as requested
    • Participate in all internal training activities onsite – Fire and medical
    • Actively maintain skills through ongoing education
    • Understand equipment maintenance program and participate as appropriate when requested
    • Ensure equipment is in good condition and alert supply chain if there is a suspected problem
    • Ensure all stock in intact and within date
    • Maintain patient records as care is provided in an objective, complete, and timely manner
    • Participate in committees or working groups as requested
    • Any other duties that may be requested from time to time by management
    • Identify emergency scene hazards and determine actions needed to mitigate those hazards to ensure the safety of all personnel under their supervision
    • Ensure assigned tasks are carried out according to the policies of the client and/or the AHJ, and International SOS Fire and Rescue emergency operations policies.
    • Ensure proper escalation to Intl.SOS Response Center and Medical Director.
    • Ensure tasks are performed in accordance with International SOS Fire and Rescue emergency operations policies and guidelines.
    • When required, participate in the incident investigation

About You

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • HCP Level CPR with AED (current)
  • ACP Registration with Alberta College of Paramedics
  • ACLS (current)
  • ITLS Advanced (current)
  • Class 3/4 Driver’s License with Q endorsement (or higher)
  • ICS 100, 200
  • H2S Alive

Preference for:

  • Experience in an industrial setting
  • A high level of knowledge and the ability to interpret relevant medical and operational guidelines, protocols,  policies and procedures

  • We're presently staffing for a Full-time candidate for the role
  • Able to commute within Redwater, AB area
  • Able to work day/night shifts for a 4 days or 5 days rotation
  • On-call and extended hours may be required after hours when operational and business requirements indicate
