About the role

The Financial Accountant, Medical Services is a key member of the HQ Finance team, responsible for global compliance, balance sheet management, legal entity structures, M&A support, audits, system implementations, and internal controls.

Key areas of focus:

  • Maintain a global compliance register for licenses, tax updates, and country-specific requirements.
  • Drive legal entity clean-up projects.
  • Manage balance sheets, intercompany accounts, and statutory accounting.
  • Ensure accurate balance sheet reporting through periodic reviews.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls in compliance with IFRS, statutory rules, and Intl SOS policies.
  • Manage periodic audits for all entities under Medical Services.
  • Influence decision-making within the regional finance team.
  • Establish central Treasury governance and manage Foreign Exchange exposure.
  • Support key finance projects and ensure compliance with the Governance Structure.
  • Act as backup to the Global Financial Controller when needed.
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis and projects for the Regional CFO.
  • Project manage the roll-out of Sun6 for various regions.
  • Oversee full accounting, reporting, and finance functions of MSHQ.
  • Ensure compliance with intercompany recharges and transfer pricing requirements.

Key responsibilities

Accounting:

  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reports for MSHQ.
  • Manage Group, Statutory, and Internal audits.
  • Participate in Quarterly Business Reviews, Forecast, and Budget preparation.
  • Ensure accurate Balance Sheet reporting.
  • Act as a technical accounting expert and contact for Group Finance.
  • Drive legal entity cleanup projects.
  • Support associate and joint venture companies in accurate accounting.
  • Ensure correctness and completeness of reported information.

Internal Controls:

  • Develop and implement internal controls and Group Policies.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on controls.

Group Consolidation and Reporting:

  • Meet MSHQ reporting requirements.
  • Ensure timely and cost-effective statutory audits.
  • Implement hubs and recharges with transfer pricing documentation.

Process Improvements:

  • Optimize work processes for efficiency.
  • Maintain intercompany account reconciliation.
  • Guide balance sheet hedging.

Projects:

  • Assist in financial modeling and due diligence for acquisitions.
  • Manage ad-hoc projects for the Regional CFO.
  • Support Sun 6 implementation project management.

  • Strong influencing skills in a matrix reporting environment.
  • Good interpersonal skills and a driver of change.
  • Advanced technical computer skills, especially in Sun, Excel, and Access; Cognos knowledge is a plus.

 

Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years of working experience in technical accounting environment
  • Experience in a fast pace, multi-national organization, ideally within the professional services industry
  • Experienced in supporting operations in developing countries, diverse nationalities and cultures
  • Exposure to dealing with senior executive and operational management teams.
