Your Mission

The Advanced Care Paramedic plays a pivotal role in delivering proficient and timely emergency medical response across our operations. This position focuses on maintaining high standards of care while ensuring patient safety and well-being in diverse environments, including remote and industrial sites. Collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams, you will be instrumental in executing medical retrievals, assessing patient conditions, and supporting continuous quality improvement initiatives that uphold our commitment to excellence.

How You'll Contribute

As an Advanced Care Paramedic, your key responsibilities encompass a broad range of clinical, operational, and administrative duties critical to effective emergency medical response:

  • Maintain professional standards adhering to guidelines established by provincial regulatory bodies and align with International SOS policies to ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding and compliance with the Quality Improvement Program's Service Delivery Standards, actively seeking opportunities to enhance patient care outcomes.
  • Efficiently manage medical records by ensuring secure storage and prompt retrieval, supporting continuity and accuracy of care documentation.
  • Manage patient interactions with professionalism and empathy, promoting a compassionate and customer-oriented approach at all times.
  • Ensure all medical equipment and transportation vehicles are maintained in a state of readiness 24/7, facilitating rapid deployment for medical retrieval services.
  • Participate actively in medical retrieval missions, applying advanced clinical skills within the scope of your license to manage critical situations effectively.
  • Engage in annual competency assessments, including Basic Life Support and other relevant clinical skills to maintain certification and readiness.
  • Handle incoming calls in accordance with Standard Operating Policies and Procedures to ensure timely and accurate triage and response.
  • Fulfill assigned daily and nightly operational duties, contributing to smooth and efficient medical service operations.
  • Contribute to continuous professional development by attending site-based internal training sessions and assisting with training program development when requested.
  • Support equipment maintenance efforts by adhering to protocols for upkeep and promptly reporting any malfunctions to the Equipment Department.
  • Manage supply inventories meticulously to ensure adequate stock levels, verifying expiry dates, and maintaining infection control standards in line with organizational procedures.
  • Document patient care accurately, objectively, and promptly, supporting effective communication across medical teams and ensuring compliance with legal and professional standards.
  • Participate in scheduled meetings, committees, and quality improvement initiatives, contributing insights to promote risk mitigation and service enhancement.
  • Assist in developing and revising operational procedures, fostering a dynamic and responsive approach to evolving clinical and business needs.
  • Undertake any additional duties assigned by management to support the overall effectiveness and resilience of medical services.

The Talent We’re Looking For

Must-haves (minimum requirements):
•    Work experience as an Advanced Care Paramedic
•    ACLS
•    Exceptional collaboration with other groups and the ability to work under pressure
•    Current registration with the Alberta College of Paramedics
•    A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
•    Alignment with our values of expertise,passion,respect and care


Preference for:
•    Experience in an industrial setting 
•    A high level of knowledge and the ability to interpret relevant medical and operational guidelines, protocols,  policies and procedures
•    Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
•    Collaborate with others in order to achieve the best results and deliver the most value
•    Hold others accountable, and expect others to do the same
