Overall Purpose of The Job
The Accounting Manager is responsible for financial processes and the ongoing financial support/analysis necessary to support the business. They are responsible for Group and Statutory audits, process improvement, and automation. Overseeing the work of 2-3 direct reports. The Accounting Manager supports all Medaire regions.
Key responsibilities
Accounting/Auditing
- Responsible for month-end closing processes to include but is not limited to journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Leads the year-end Group and Statutory audits as well as Group Internal Audits for all entities under scope. Including managing all walkthroughs for accounting and audits.
- Responsible for capital activities (journal entries, capital authorizations, fixed assets, etc.). and associated quarterly/annual roll forwards.
- Leads the Accounts Payable team to timely and accurate recording of transactions.
- Driving automation around all accounting processes.
- Assist the team with timely and complete monthly and quarterly reporting – for Regional & Financial reporting as well as local management reporting requirements.
- Successful Management of workload among different team members and drives optimization and automation of tasks and processes.
- Assists in Developing cross-training and backup solutions for all accounting tasks processing.
- Assists in the Development, implementation, and monitoring of the effectiveness of internal controls, processes, and associated desktop instructions.
- Acts as mentor for other Finance team members helping to up-skill the technical capabilities across the team.
- Other duties as assigned.
Financial Systems
- Ensures that the Financial Applications accurately record the performance of the MedAire entities, and create templates and data transfers as needed.
- Acts as technical go-to owner on some of the systems used.
- Assist on system upgrades, new implementations, and other ad-hoc projects as defined by the Controller.
Process Improvement
- Assists in Continuously reviewing work processes to ensure efficient workflow to maximize staff efficiency and quality of information flow with other departments.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree is required.
- Certified Public Accountant preferred even if not with active status.
Required Work Experience
- Ten (10) plus years of progressive experience in the areas of accounting, finance, financial reporting, financial analysis, and driving process improvements.
- Highly effective analytics, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams in a matrix organization.
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint/etc.) as well as with accounting and financial software (Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains, etc.)
Required Skills and Knowledge
- Experience working in a multinational organization with oversight for accounting, tax, and audit across multiple Legal entities and/or Geographies.
- Knowledge/understanding/application of Accounting, Finance, and Internal Control principles/processes, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
- Advanced analysis of financial data as well as the ability to prepare financial reports and management reports (standard/ad hoc)
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with U.S. and international associates
- Ability to work in a team environment including strong influencing skills and the ability to deliver results in a matrix reporting environment.
- Advanced Excel and problem-solving skills
Required Competencies
- Experience in leading and managing other team members, ideally teams bigger than seven (7) across multiple functions (GL, AP, Billing, etc.)
