A. Overall Purpose Of The Job

The ALS Paramedic works as part of the Special Immigration Visa department and provides healthcare within the multi-disciplinary team to manage patients under the medical doctor's supervision. Promotes patient well-being, implements care plans, and maintains medical records. Administer care to adult and pediatric clients, along with the administration and documentation of medication according to doctor's prescription. Monitor for side effects, record vital signs and symptoms, and changes in the client's condition. Advise patients on health maintenance and disease. The paramedic must be able to accurately assess the patient's condition and the safety of the environment. The Paramedic is required to support the on-site emergency response capability and management of medical emergencies as an independent clinician or as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

B. Key Responsibilities

•    Support project-specific plan.
•    Provide population-specific education to patients and families and therapeutic interventions.
•    Initiate and implement interventions based on emergency protocols within the scope of practice.
•    Assist with the transference of patients to different areas of the facility.
•    Provide care for children and adults in a clinic setting.
•    Ability to use the Electronic Medical System.
•    Perform clinical duties in accordance with company patient safety goals.
•    Facilitate the delivery of age-appropriate, culturally, and ethnically sensitive care.
•    Maintain comprehensive, confidential medical records of all patient contacts
•    Respond to emergencies in a decisive, composed, respectful manner 
•    Ensure adequate supply of medical inventory. 
•    Inspect and maintain equipment daily to ensure the team's and patients' safety. 
•    Support basic health and first aid training for the project personnel.
•    Assist in the development and management of incident capability on-site.
•    Provide clinical reports for the Project Charge Nurse or Project Medical Director
•    Support clinical excellence and compliance with clinical protocols and SOPs 
•    Ability to function competently and efficiently in high-pressure or emergent situations.
•    Ability to respond calmly in emergency situations.
•    Cultural sensitivity and awareness with the willingness to work with a foreign national patient population     
•    Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. 
•    Ability to effectively work with persons of diverse ages and economic backgrounds in a culturally competent manner. 
•    Must be able to manage and provide concise directions to supporting staff.
•    Ability to quickly adapt to changing work conditions and responsibilities.

C. Job Profile

 

Required Skills and Knowledge (Brief description of technical knowledge or skills needed to perform the job)
•    Ability to perform phlebotomy. start IVs and administer IM and/or SQ injections.
•    Ability to administer vaccinations in adult and pediatric patients
•    Strong interpersonal and communication skills
•    Proficient IT skills, including use of electronic medical records systems

 

Experience Required:
•    Minimum of 3 Years experience
•    One year of emergency room or Urgent care experience preferred

 

Education Required:
•    High school diploma or GED 
•    Graduate from an accredited paramedic program.
•    Associate degree from an accredited institution preferred.

 

Other Special Qualifications:
•    Current State License or National Registry Paramedic certification. 
•    BLS and ACLS Certificate
