Overall Purpose of The Job

This position will support the US Department of Veterans Affairs Critical Staffing Program.  The person in this position will represent International SOS and provide the services outlined below.   

Neurologist who will be responsible for direct patient care with various neurological disorders. They should be able to deliver quality care to a culturally diverse veteran patient population. The candidate is responsible for the management of acute and chronic illnesses in the inpatient and outpatient settings.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstration of knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age related needs of patients served in the assigned area of practice. 
  • Understanding changes associated with aging and principles of growth and development relevant to the adult and geriatric population. 
  • Communicate and interact appropriately and courteously with all internal and external service staff, ancillary staff, patients and patients' families in addition to student, resident and fellow learners affiliated with the VA. 
  • Maintain confidentiality of electronic, written, and/or verbal patient/employee information 
  • Demonstrate working practices include adherence to infection control standards and the safe use and operation of equipment. 
  • Perform neurophysiologic procedures (NCS/EMG, EEG, Polysomnograms, etc) 
  • Produce reports in a timely manner. 

Job profile

Experience/Certification Required:  

  • Board Eligible or Board Certified in Neurology    
  • DEA License  

 

Education Required: 

  • Degree: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada.  This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges: Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.  
  • DEA License  
  • For all grade levels and positions, applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.  
  • Current BLS certification.  Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) is preferred 

 

Physical Requirements

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. 
  • Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time. 
  • May require bending, stooping and lifting to 15 lbs. 

 

Other Special Qualifications

  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required.   
  • Must relocate to project site for the duration of the contract.  
  • Pass a Child abuse and neglect check.   
  • Pass/possess VA Public Trust Clearance
