About the role

A. About the role (Brief description of the primary purpose of this position) 

 

The HR Manager will report directly to the Director of Human Resources. The ideal candidate will have a strong employee relations and HR business partner background in addition to HR operational and compensation and benefits experience. The candidate must be very flexible and highly committed to quality, customer service, teamwork, and supporting organizational and department goals in a fast-paced environment. This is a hybrid (in-office and remote) position based in downtown Houston, Texas.  

B. Key Responsibilities (Critical responsibilities and skills of this position, listed in order of importance) 

Assist Director of HR with developing and driving the execution of the HR strategy, integrating best practices/trends, and performing analysis on the effectiveness and competitiveness of existing human capital processes and programs. 

Partner with client group leaders to ensure client needs and objectives align with HR programs and solutions and provide support to meet these needs. 

Conduct employee relations investigations, analyze organizational issues, and develop/execute plans to address problem areas. 

Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions). 

In collaboration with Director of HR, manage the development, maintenance, and implementation of Company Handbook, HR policies, and processes to ensure compliance with Company controls as well as state and federal employment laws. 

Develop and utilize HR metrics to identify areas of opportunity, develop related reports, and devise action plans across various client groups and measure the effectiveness of Human Capital initiatives. 

Collaborate with recruiting and managers on compensation-related discussions for current and potential employees. 

Manage cyclical HR processes such as compensation and performance reviews. 

Partner with business leaders and Head of Talent on workforce planning. 

Partner with Learning and Development and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion on initiatives to meet organizational and client needs and objectives. 

Manage vendor relationships and department budget. 

Oversee employee surveys (new hire, exit interviews, etc.) and personnel actions (onboarding, offboarding, job changes, etc.) processes and administration. 

Oversee affirmative action reporting and related requirements. 

Provide the HR team (4 employees) leadership by developing team members, establishing objectives, and overseeing work efforts to accomplish identified business goals/objectives and to support the employees’ career success/development. 

Manage and/or provide support on special projects and system implementations. 

 

Job Profile

Required Skills and Knowledge (Brief description of technical knowledge or skills needed to perform the job) 

 

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience in related field. 

7+ years of human resources and employee relations experience. International HR experience is desired, but not required. 

Previous experience directly managing a team. 

Seasoned and proven skills in managing difficult ER situations, conflict management, employment law, influence skills, as well as deep and broad knowledge of Human Resources in general 

Human Resource professional certifications (PHR, SHRM-CP, etc.) preferred. 

Demonstrated experience successfully managing large projects. 

Strong stakeholder management and HR business partnership experience. Experience building relationships throughout a business to ensure program and employee needs are met. 

Advanced excel skills. 

Experience in US Government Contract or in healthcare-oriented company is preferred. 

Experience with SuccessFactor is a plus. 

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office PowerPoint and Excel, including the ability to develop and analyze metrics 

Candidate must be based in the Houston, Texas area and able to work in-office a minimum of two days per week with the flexibility to occasionally come in additional days as needed for meetings, events, etc.
