Overall Purpose of The Job

This position will support the US Department of Veterans Affairs Critical Staffing Program.  The person in this position will represent International SOS and provide the services outlined below.   

The incumbent provides care of the Veterans' medical needs by performing examination, The Dentist is an integral member of the dental treatment team and performs a wide variety of interventions which contribute to the overall oral health of Veterans. The work requires a professional knowledge of the field Licensed practitioner who specializes in dentistry and branch of medicine focused on teeth, gums, and mouth. Dentist can diagnose, prevent, manage and treat diseases, injuries and malformations of the oral cavity and other aspects of the craniofacial complex; will ensure the most effective delivery of care, while meeting and exceeding compliance, Joint Commission and VA Central Office performance measure standard.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  •  Diagnose pathology related to the oral cavity, teeth and occlusal disorders. 
  • Perform services including but not limited to cavity fillings, crowns, dentures, implants, teeth extractions, and root canals. 
  • Reading and interpreting dental radiographs and digital scans. 
  • Ensure appropriate medical records are maintained and updated in a timely manner. 
  • Performs thorough documentation in both medical and dental electronic health records. 
  • Other duties within scope as assigned.

Job profile

Experience Required:  

  • Applicants must have passed the National Board Dental Examinations (NBDE) 
  • Minimum of three (3) years of general dentistry experience  

 

 

Education Required

  • Applicants must have a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from a school approved by the American Dental Association (ADA) or the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. 
  • For all grade levels and positions, applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Dental Assistant from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.  
  • Current BLS certification.  Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) is preferred. 

 

Physical Requirements

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. 
  • Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time. 
  • May require bending, stooping and lifting to 15 lbs. 

 

Other Special Qualifications

  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required.   
  • Must relocate to project site for the duration of the contract.  
  • Pass a Child abuse and neglect check.   
  • Pass/possess VA Public Trust Clearance
