Description:

The Dental Assistant supports dental care delivery by preparing treatment rooms, patients, instruments, and materials; passing instruments and materials; performing procedures in compliance with the dental practice act. The dental assistant may also mix filling compounds, take impressions of teeth, and provide patients with postoperative instructions. Candidates should have a commitment to a proactive approach to workplace safety, while taking a diplomatic and professional approach to customer interactions. Successful candidates are also team players, work well in a diverse and multicultural environment, are very comfortable with industrial settings, and exhibit a demonstrated history of self-improvement. 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Prepares treatment rooms for patient examinations, sterilizes and disinfects instruments and equipment, and takes dental radiographs. 
  • Obtains and updates patients’ dental records; prepares, lays out instruments and materials required to treat each patient. 
  • Provides chairside assistance to the dentist. 
  • Instructs patients on postoperative and general oral healthcare. 
  • Prepares materials for impressions and restorations 
  • May remove sutures; apply topical anaesthetics to gums or cavity-preventive agents to teeth. 
  • Orders and maintains inventory of supplies. 
  • Performs clerical functions related to dental activities. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

Experience Required:  

  • Dental assisting  
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience preferred. 
  • Dental support staff should have recent clinical experience in patient care for at least six months out of the past year. Training will be provided for the right candidate. 

 

Education Required: 

  • Current & unrestricted license or authorizing document home country. 
  • Completion of an approved Dental Assistant course in the country of origin. 
  • Certification by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) or equivalent preferred. 
  • Current dental radiology license required based in licensing country. 
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS).  

Other Special Qualifications:

•    On call requirements as part of a rotation if required.
•    Ability to obtain and maintain a clearance to drive company vehicles.
•    Must be able to read, write and speak English to effectively communicate.
•    This position is unaccompanied.
•    Ability to obtain a DOS mandated clearance if one is required.
•    Must be able to relocate to Kaiserslautern, Germany for 3 months at a time.
•    A valid passport is required and must be in your possession prior to relocation. You must maintain a current passport during your stay in Germany.
