Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Medical Coder and Biller to manage billing for family practice and workers' compensation cases. This role includes accurate coding and billing of services, primarily for family practice, and requires working with multiple EMR systems. The position collaborates closely with doctors, PAs, and the Finance department to ensure seamless billing and compliance with regulatory standards. This is a full-time position (Monday to Friday: 8:00 am until 5:00 pm) and is based out of our Anchorage head office.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in EMR systems and electronic billing platforms, with strong data entry skills and accuracy in coding and billing.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with clinical and finance teams.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and organization, with the ability to manage detailed billing and coding information across multiple systems.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years in medical billing and coding, particularly in family practice and workers compensation.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; certification in Medical Billing and Coding (CPC, CMC, or equivalent) strongly preferred.

 

Preferred Skills: 

  • Experience in occupational health services. 
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and occupational health standards. 
  • Strong computer skills

Key responsibilities

  • Accurate Coding and Billing: Assign and verify appropriate codes for family practice services and workers' compensation cases, ensuring accuracy in billing entries.
  • Claims Management: Submit claims to payers for services provided, monitor claim status, and follow up on outstanding or denied claims.
  • EMR and Documentation Management: Utilize three different EMR systems to input, verify, and reconcile billing information; ensure patient records and billing details are updated accurately.
  • Audit and Compliance: Conduct regular audits of billing data to maintain accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations and internal policies.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Work closely with doctors, PAs, and the Finance team to address billing-related queries, clarify documentation, and ensure alignment across departments.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Generate billing reports and provide insights on revenue trends, assisting the Finance department in financial planning and forecasting.
  • Workers' Compensation Billing: Handle specialized billing for workers' compensation cases, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of related billing regulations and requirements.

Contingencies

Offer contingent upon ability to pass pre-employment drug testing (federal panel), physical exam, background check and motor vehicle report.
