Opportunity:

We are looking for a full time Financial Accountant for our head office in Anchorage, AK. This is a hybrid role and the working hours are Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; Fridays are working from home.

 

The Financial Accountant (FA) reports to the Finance Manager (FM) and supports all aspects of the financial accounting & reporting for Beacon, supporting the integrity of the group finance ERP system.  This includes complying with statutory reporting requirements; Beacon GAPP and any tax related matters.  

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensures the integrity of all P&L & B/S statements, checking that accounting entries are accurate; verified and reconciled.  All statements produced should be presented in the standardised format.
  • Works with the FM to further develop and improve the month end close process, ensuring Group timetables are consistently met.
  • Supports the FM in developing new financial processes and procedures aligned with GAPP.
  • Oversees asset, liability & capital account entries by compiling and analysing account information.
  • Undertakes the preparation of accurate & supported journal entries.
  • Assists in the preparation of balance sheets; monthly reports including accruals & prepayments and analyses the data, highlighting any areas of concern.
  • Performs bank reconciliations against statements & reconciles them with general ledger entries.
  • Maintains & balances accounts by verifying; allocating; posting; reconciling transactions and resolves any discrepancies.
  • Demonstrates a keen eye for detail, being able to handle and investigate large volumes of data.
  • Works across all business functions to educate and regulate accounting treatments.
  • Adheres to the monthly close timetable, ensuring completion of all analysis and reconciliations.
  • Works with the Project Accountant to ensure all Revenue accruals are completed correctly.
  • Supports the annual audit process by providing all schedules and backup as required by the auditor.
  • Prepares ad hoc financial reports and analysis for regulatory agencies; stockholders and auditors.

Qualifications:

Required Skills and Knowledge 

  • Minimum 2-year track record of success in a similar position within a fast-paced & growing SME.
  • Understanding of IFRS desirable. 
  • Ability to read and understand Financial Statements. 
  • Strong numerical & analytical skills; detail orientated problem solver.
  • Advanced Excel & PowerPoint skills, knowledge of GP/SUN/Cognos would be an added advantage.

Required Qualifications

  • Accounting degree or CPA professional qualification.
