Overall Purpose of the Job:
The Medical Assistance Platform provides medical assistance and support to our clients and their employees /
insured entities on a global basis. This includes direct contact with the employees, clients, colleagues, relatives
and medical providers to perform an appropriate risk assessment and providing the necessary medical support,
including but not limited to appropriate medical advice, referrals, medical monitoring and medical evacuations
and repatriations.
The WorkSafe Department provides global coordination and medical review of essential health screening and vaccination support services to multinational organisations with expatriate populations (employees and dependents) who are required to travel frequently or are assigned to work in foreign countries and frequently in remote locations.
Coordinating Doctors are to be responsible for and provide clear leadership in the delivery of professional and effective medical assistance and/or Work Health services for clients of Intl. SOS to the highest standards of excellence in conjunction with the
Medical Directors, Medical Assistance Coordinating Doctors and Nurses.
Responsibilities:
- To participate in the Medical Assistance Doctor roster as required by Intl SOS.
- Responsibility for medical due diligence and case direction with respect to all medical assistance cases.
- Responsibility for all ongoing medical related tasks required on all medical assistance cases.
- Assess each case with respect to its medical elements and provide direction in order to facilitate medical due diligence and render the appropriate assistance.
- Provision of assistance with referrals and retrospective claims assessments as required.
- Responsibility for ensuring that there is an appropriate medical handover of cases at the beginning/end of each shift.
- Provide clear case direction at the transmission handover process in the assistance centre each day.
- Direct the medical frequency /intensity of medical contacts with treating doctors, clients, patients and their family members as appropriate.
- Direct the planning and progress of medical hospitalisation cases.
- Oversee the planning and progress of operational issues relating to medical case management.
- Responsible for medical due diligence and case direction with respect to all WorkSafe cases.
- Interface with the relevant occupational health, HR and HSE departments of the respective WorkSafe clients as indicated, both in regard to case and program management.
- Participate when required in telephonic updates to clients / weekly tracking sheets and updates as well as formal client meetings.
Required Skills, Experience, Qualifications, and Languages:
Required Skills and Knowledge:
- Demonstrates accountability, confidentiality and ability to handle client related funding.
- Able to work under pressure and deliver results to deadlines.
- Be independent and firm, at same time a team player.
- Good interpersonal skills to work in the team – with service-focus mentality.
- Knowledge / experience within the commercial maritime industry (preferred)
Required Work Experience:
- Min 5 years post graduate experience preferred as per Group Standard.
- Min 5-year private sector working experience in Emergency Department and or suitable General/Family Practice.
Required Qualifications:
- MBChB or MBBS
- Medical Council of Mauritius Registration,
- Post graduate qualification and/or experience in Occupational Health, Emergency Medicine, Travel/Tropical Medicine, Family Medicine will be advantageous.
- ATLS, BLS and ACLS Advantageous.
Required Languages:
- Excellent written and spoken French and English.
