About the role

The Security Manager, Assistance (SM‑A) is a global security expert who advises International SOS clients and delivers high‑quality security support. The role focuses on assessing risks, developing action plans, and guiding clients on how to manage and reduce threats relevant to their circumstances. The SM‑A leads and supports security case management, works closely with Lead Security Analysts to ensure decisions are informed by current intelligence, and coordinates with Operations, Medical, Transport, and Travel teams to integrate security considerations into response plans. The position also contributes to improving operational processes with senior managers and provides on‑the‑job training and support to Security Specialists to strengthen overall team capability.

Key responsibilities

  • Planning, coordinating and delivery of security operations.
  • Providing others with a clear direction, supervising and giving feedback.
  • Planning and managing security assistance operations.
  • Conducting profile-specific security risk assessments
  • Critically analyse multiple streams of security, logistics, and threat-based information under pressure and produce actionable plans.
  • Conducting profile-specific security risk assessments

About you

Professional Experience

  • 10 years of experience in security assistance and security operations across public, private, and nonprofit sectors
  • Ideally 5 years of people supervision experience.
  • Deployments in challenging, hostile, and complex environments.
  • Experience across multiple security domains, including executive protection, crisis management, business continuity, protective services, disaster response, supply‑chain risk, investigations, and kidnap‑and‑ransom.
  • Extensive travel experience

Skills

  • Proficiency in IT, including Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant applications.
  • Public Speaking, Client Presentations, and/or media management
  • Regional language skills are desirable
  • Hold full working rights in Australia and ability to work in Sydney, NSW

Qualification

  • Degree (or equivalent professional training and experience) in security studies, war studies, international politics, international relations, or a related field.
  • Accreditation from a regionally recognized security or risk management body is considered advantageous

Working Hours

  • Mix of 8 and 12-hour shifts, between 7am to 9pm
  • 7 days a week, Rotating roster
  • 6-8 shifts per fortnight
  • Occasional travel, including urgent deployments
  • Support an on-call rota for case escalations
