Health Workforce Development Advisor

• Casual contract from 1st July till 31st Dec 2025, office hours
• Work from home in AUS/NZ or Pacific Islands
• Flexible schedule; average of 30 working hours per week (office hours)
Support strategic workforce objectives and interventions to enhance planning, education, recruitment, deployment, and retention, advancing Nauru’s health system and service delivery.
The Role
The Health Workforce Development Advisor will play a vital role in guiding the creation of Health Workforce Development Plans for Nauru’s Department of Health and Medical Services (DHMS) and Department of Public Health (DPH). Key tasks include:
• Analyse workforce data to identify gaps and performance across the health system
• Engage relevant Nauruan Government ministries to ensure alignment and ownership
• Work with the DHMS and DPH strategic planning teams to guide the formulation of vision, goals and strategic objectives for health workforce development, aligned with Nauru’s national health priorities.
• Lead the drafting of the Health Workforce Development Plans for DHMS and DPH
Requirements
• + 10 years’ work experience in health workforce development in small island states
• Experience in health workforce education and training planning
• Degree in public health, human resources for health (HRH), health systems or related field – with additional training or experience in workforce planning or health policy
• Familiarity with global HRH frameworks
• Strong analytical, strategic planning and report writing skills
• Strong knowledge of health labor market analysis and HRH data systems
