International SOS has a unique opportunity for a School Counselor who is looking to enhance and develop their career abroad. This successful person for this role will be based in a remote part of Indonesia, at a unique intercultural school which provides a personalised education for expatriate dependents of local employees and associated contractors. The School Counselor is a student advocate who works in partnership with students, administration, staff, and parents by fostering an inclusive and collaborative environment central to the success of the school's overall mission, core values and the Schoolwide Learner Outcomes. Additionally, to provide a comprehensive counseling program to help each student realise their maximum potential as a unique person. The Counselor will assist all students in acquiring the skills, knowledge and values needed to become responsible global citizens and balanced, resilient lifelong learners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide a comprehensive developmental guidance and counseling program (PreK-8)
- Act as the campus safeguarding person
- Consult with teachers, parents, administrators and faculty to promote individual and community wellbeing
- Provide educational support for various school programs
- Member of the Student Support Services Team (the team meets regularly to discuss student referrals, review student/school data, create appropriate plans of action for identified students and appropriate interventions).
- Support school-wide initiatives and Parent Education Programs
- Collaborate with classroom teachers on student behavior, team building, classroom management, and student success
- Implement a Restitution Model of Discipline
- Promote and Educate for Digital Citizenship
- Review nd contribute school policies related to Child Safeguarding, Bullying and Student Welfare
- Work with classroom teachers on individual behavioral plans/interventions to help students find success in various learning environments.
- Work with students individually to meet developmentally appropriate personal, emotional, academic and social goals.
- Use technology, play, art, games, role-play, and other creative means to connenct with and support children
- Implement the Second Step Social-Emotional Program and other articulated initiatives
- Provide counseling in an individual or group setting tailored to meet the needs of all student participants; and on occasion parents
- Seek additional opinions, information or counseling, Ed. Psych Services from outside resources.
Education, Experience and Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor Degree in Education or equivalent
- Master Degree in Counseling and/or Psychology
- Relevant administrative and teaching credentials
- Broad International teaching experience (5 years)
- Experience with primary school counseling (3-12) is essential
- Effective communicative and interpersonal skills
- Analytical and research based
- Adaptive and Flexible
- Creative problem solver with an open mindset
- Demonstrated passion for student learning and welfare
- Excellent command of the English language
