About the role

 

We are currently looking for a Senior HR Advisor to join our team in Akasaka, Tokyo. This individual will lead the delivery of an effective and responsive HR service to employees and people managers based in Japan through providing a HR administration and advisory service across the full employment lifecycle. They will also proactively enhance the employee experience for all our colleagues in Japan. 

 

We are looking for someone is comfortable with a lot of stakeholder interaction, employee engagement with a large remote workforce, and is a 'hands on' individual. 

 

This is a stand alone role as the only HR representative for TRICARE in Japan but has the support of other HR colleagues from different locations and departments. 

Key responsibilities

 

  • Works closely with the Head of TRICARE Services Japan and other department HR members to ensure all HR administrative actions and tasks are delivered in an efficient and compliant way, including new starters set up, pre-employment checks, induction planning, changes/moves, employee relations case work and offboarding.
  • Oversees advisory services for all employee lifecycle policy activities/actions (e.g. recruitment, contracting, pre-employment screening, onboarding/induction, probation, reward/payroll, performance, employee relations, learning and development, moves/promotions, succession planning, resignations)
  • Liaises with other department HR members to check actions and changes before payroll cut-off and final submissions to the local payroll vendor.
  • Supports annual delivery and administration of pay, benefits, bonus and merit increases.
  • Liaises with in-house recruiters and external recruitment agencies, providing guidance and support to Hiring Managers, advertising, candidate interviews and offers, as well as issuing contracts
  • Enhances new starter experience including planning onboarding/induction programs with Hiring Managers, delivering welcome/induction presentations, and following up with progress checks on new hires
  • Supports the planning and operational delivery of annual performance reviews, compliance training, nominations, and employee surveys
  • Collaborates with leadership team to ensure communications are shared with people managers and employees 
  • Prepares reports for monthly HR and data analytics and trend analysis 
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of country, regional and group policies, procedures and standards

About you

 

  • Over 5 years of experience in HR operations role
  • Strong HR operations experience 
  • Excellent customer service delivery, with proven ability and confidence to liaise with a wide range of internal stakeholders up to senior management level
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent through work experience 
  • HR certification/qualification advantageous
  • Strong understanding of Japanese employment law, practices, payroll, income tax, social insurance, and visas 
  • Strong IT skills
  • Knowledge of and experience in delivering the full employee lifecycle activities 
  • Experience of working with employee records on a HRIS and Payroll system 
  • Strong attention to detail 
  • Able to communicate in business English and Japanese- spoken and written skills are essential
