International SOS are currently looking for Coordinating Nurses to work in APAC region.
Key responsibilities
- Receive and assess medically related calls from patients/clients on and offshore.
- Collect logistical, medical and collateral histories pertaining to the medical event in order to give case direction and as part of medical due diligence.
- Provide telephone medical assessment and consultation to patients, medical teams, clients in all parts of the world including on commercial maritime vessels and offshore.
- Medically risk assess, advice and monitor the appropriateness of the treatment
- Organize and supervise appropriate medical assistance for clients. This includes obtaining medical reports, organizing referrals, monitoring the patient’s conditions, recommending appropriate means of medical transportation and monitoring the progress of such.
- Ensure that all cases are managed with an understanding of occupational health and safety concepts including lost time injuries, days of work, restricted work duties, reporting and recording as well as classification for first aid and medical treatment cases.
- Understand the role of Maritime Rescue Coordination Centers (MRCC) in commercial maritime cases, and how to provide medical information to the MRCC when required
- Produce professional medical month end and case closure reports that effectively communicate information to billing, clients and other Assistance Centers.
- Professionally communicate verbally and/or in writing to relevant stakeholders regarding the progress of the patient’s condition. Discuss appropriate medical management and recommendations.
- Verbally update stakeholders to ensure good communication with all parties and to promote clear understanding with patients, families, clients etc.
- Communicate in a professional, courteous manner and tone as representatives of Intl.SOS
- To participate under the direction of the Medical Director in appropriate social and professional development activities to promote understanding of International SOS’ services
- To assist in explaining Intl. SOS’ medical services to prospective/existing clients and providers.
About you
- Full current registration to practice medicine/nursing your home country.
- 5 years plus post-graduation clinical medical experience
- Current BLS/ACLS certifications
- Emergency or ICU Medical background preferred
- Family and Internal Medicine considered.
- Occupational Medicine experience (desirable).
- Maritime/Aviation/Remote/Assistance Medicine experience (desirable)
- Excellent written and oral communication in English
