We are looking for a Doctor / Physician Lead (known internally as a Near Patient Physician Lead) based in either Kato, Iwakuni, Hiroshima, Okinawa or within proximity, to support our global patient care program for TRICARE. You will be responsible for a specific population of patients within Japan and will be expected to provide clear medical leadership under the direction of our Physician Lead and Regional Medical Director. This Physician will serve as the liaison between our nursing and administration team, our local healthcare providers as well as leadership within TRICARE's medical team. 

Travel to various locations of Japan will be required to visit military treatment facility Commanders, staff and local medical providers. 

Key responsibilities

• Support Near Patient Nurse team with escalations and case management
• Execute strategic initiatives in the region related to the TRICARE Program 
• Deliver Inpatient Medical Management 
• Facilitate and maintain positive working relationships with local healthcare providers, military treatment facilities and other government stakeholders
• Ensure operational delivery of medical services and patient care across the region coordinated by the medical team meets the standard of quality expected in our service level agreements
• Oversee medical staff succession planning and development programs

About you

• Registered Medical Doctor or equivalent with minimum 3 years of experience with full registration to practice in Japan
• Post graduate qualification 
• Management experience in leadership function 
• Broad clinical and health care provision experience
• International experience preferable 
• Medical experience in:
  • General Practice, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Accident and Emergency, Aviation medicine, Anesthetics, ICU, Tropical Medicine, or Aviation Medicine
• Military health care system experience preferable
• Able to communicate fluently in Japanese and in English
• Computer literate
