About the Job:
This position will support the function of the Occupational Hygiene department in the technical direction and support of Occupational Hygiene activities and the associated resources (people and assets) in a pro-active manner to identify and manage hygiene-related risks at the client site.

 

Duties and responsibilities:

  • To technically guide, develop and to assess the skills, coach, and mentor the National Hygiene team, recruited to work at the client site
  • Develop and deliver the 12-month Health & Hygiene Management & Monitoring Plan and implementation schedule to meet, as a minimum, relevant legislative standards and requirements.
  • Recommend control measures to mitigate hygiene risk and ensure adherence to all relevant standards and compliance standards and legislations.
  • Continuously improve the Hygiene management standards, procedures, tools, and programs to enable the operations to effectively manage Hygiene risk and outcomes, including incorporating regulatory changes or industry learnings.
  • Engage and collaborate with business stakeholders including front-line and management on hygiene performance and compliance, hygiene risk reduction and improvement opportunities and control effectiveness of area hygiene programs and controls.
  • Provide SME advice into operational & business activities on all health and hygiene impacts and risks.

 

Requirements:

  • Professional background: Post-secondary or equivalent education obtained through degrees, certificates (e.g. apprenticeship or trades certificate) or diplomas from academic or vocational training centers.
  • Qualification: Qualification in Occupational Hygiene, Public Health or acceptable equivalent.
  • At least 5 years relevant experience, or otherwise the significant practical experience and on the job training
  • Strong and demonstrated commitment to occupational health and hygiene. 
  • Smelter experience (ie metal refineries) is a MUST
  • Excellent communication skills (oral, written and presentation) in English. 
  • Must demonstrate participative program solving, project implementation, decision-making and continuous improvement. 
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Word, Excel and database software 
  • Light vehicle license is essential.
