Mental Health Nurse required to provide mental health support services to people in immigration detention in Christmas Island.

The Role:

 

 

You shall be responsible for providing high level mental support to our clients and supporting primary health care staff to provide mental health services.

Key responsibilities:

 

  • You will be providing mental healthcare services to the standards set out by IHMS policies and procedures and initial emergency response where required.
  • Administer medications as prescribed
  • Contribute to the effective multidisciplinary health management
  • Ensure that documentation is accurate, precise and concise

 

This position is a 38 hour working week and the successful applicant will be expected to work rostered shifts across day, evening and weekends.

Requirements:

 

To be considered you must have the following:

 

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Division 1 Mental Health Nurse;
  • Excellent assessment skills and able to respond and implement mental health management plans;
  • Current, unrestricted AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse;
  • Experience in a corrections, detention or remote nursing setting would be desirable.
  • Current BLS and Police Check (or willing to obtain)
  • Live in Australia and have work rights in Australia
