IHMS is looking for an experienced registered nurse to work in a dynamic multi-disciplinary Drug and Alcohol (D&A) team in our immigration detention facility clinic in Villawood, NSW.

The Role

In this role you will be responsible to deliver and maintain Drug and Alcohol services to people residing in the Immigration Detention facility. Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Assessment and support interventions for individuals with D&A use and concerns
  • Administer medications and immunisations as prescribed and/or in accordance with practice guidelines and nurse-initiated medication guidelines
  • Conducting urine drug screens, vital observations, other clinical tests, and health monitoring for patients with D&A use and concerns
  • Conduct initial and periodic clinical assessment of patients
  • Support the delivery of opiod substitution treatment program (OSTP)
  • To assess, plan and implement appropriate health management

Requirements

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Div. 1 Registered nurse
  • Minimum of 3 years of post-graduate experience in clinical nursing
  • Current First Aid and/or CPR certificate or willingness to obtain
  • Detention or corrections experience desirable 
  • Experience in drug and alcohol nursing including OSTP dosing of patients - highly desirable
  • Full and valid working rights in Australia
