Part time opportunity for an experienced Drug & Alcohol Nurse, to work in a clinic setting within the Villawood Immigration Detention Centre. This role is ideally 3 days a week.

The Role

IHMS is looking for an experienced, drug and alcohol registered nurse, to work in a dynamic multi-disciplinary team at Villawood Immigration Detention Centre. In this role you will be responsible to deliver and maintain Drug Health services to people residing in the Immigration Detention facility. Your main responsibilities will be:

  • To assess, plan and implement appropriate health management 
  • To Deliver Opioid Replacement Therapy to patients 
  • Contribute to the effective multidisciplinary health management of patients 
  • Participate in initial and periodic clinical assessment of patients 
  • Ensure accuracy and maintenance of medical records and compliance with professional standards
  • Administration of medications


  • Current AHPRA registration as a Div. 1 Registered nurse
  • Minimum 3 years experience in Drug & Alcohol Nursing
  • Have experience in Opioid Treatment Programs or similar
  • Advanced clinical assessment, care planning and crisis management skills
  • Current First Aid and/or CPR certificate or willingness to obtain
  • Detention or corrections experience highly desirable 
  • Full working rights in Australia
