  • Max Term - Full Time Contract
  • Flexible: 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotations starting ASAP until 10/12/2024!

We are currently recruiting for a GP who is available to continuously do 2 weeks on & off. Flights and accommodation is provided. Full time hours 38 hours per week. Office hours.

The Role

The Drug & Alcohol General Practitioner is a key member in the health service delivery to people in Immigration Detention. Your responsibilities include:

  • Assess, diagnose and treat patients in relation to drug and/or alcohol use disorders, in addition to other GP related care
  • Prescribe medications specific to the treatment of drug and/or alcohol use disorders and provide ongoing evaluation of these patients
  • Provide immediate assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients in an emergency situation where necessaryProvide advice and education to nurses and allied health professionals as required
  • Provide referrals and liaise with all parties involved in the medical management of patients with substance use disorders
  • Authorised prescriber for patients on opioid treatment program

Requirements

  • Full unconditional AHPRA Registration
  • Primary care and mental health management experience at a general practitioner level 
  • Fellowship of the RACGP or recognition as a General Practitioner
  • Experience with electronic medical records and medical practice systems is highly desirable
  • Live in Australia or New Zealand and have work rights in Australia
  • Evidence of training and accreditation in prescribing for the treatment of opioid dependence or willing to obtain accreditation. 
  • Clinical experience in D&A patient management highly desirable.
