About the role

IHMS is looking for an experienced registered nurse to work in a dynamic multi-disciplinary Drug and Alcohol (D&A) team in Northam, WA

In this role you will be responsible to deliver and maintain D&A services to people residing in the Immigration Detention facility.

Key responsibilities

  • Assessment and support interventions for individuals with D&A use and concerns
  • Administer medications and immunisations as prescribed and/or in accordance with practice guidelines and nurse-initiated medication guidelines
  • Conducting urine drug screens, vital observations, other clinical tests, and health monitoring for patients with D&A use and concerns
  • Conduct initial and periodic clinical assessment of patients
  • Support the delivery of opioid substitution treatment program (OSTP)
  • To assess, plan and implement appropriate health management

About you

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Div. 1 Registered nurse
  • Minimum of 3 years of post-graduate experience in clinical nursing
  • Current First Aid and/or CPR certificate or willingness to obtain.
  • Detention or corrections experience desirable.
  • Experience in drug and alcohol nursing including OSTP dosing of patients – highly desirable 
  • Full and valid working rights in Australia
